Selective photothermolysis
This is the phenomenon that underlies the operation of the laser. The laser light is absorbed by the hair follicle, which freezes the melanin. The light is converted into heat, which can permanently destroy the hair elements and destroy the follicle itself. This method is most effective for dark hair that is in a state of active growth (anagen). Other phases in which the hair may be, namely the catagen - atrophy phase and the telogen - resting phase, are not suitable for treatment, because the laser does not affect them.
